Innovative approaches to treating sleep disorders

Research Overview

  • Dr. Lu attends in the intensive care unit and on the pulmonary consult service at CPMC.
  • He studies continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) adherence in patients with obstructive sleep apnea, the influence of sleep and circadian rhythm on cardiovascular disease, and how sleep affects memory.
  • Dr. Lu lectures on sleep apnea and adverse cardiovascular effects, circadian factors in the treatment of insomnia, and other types of sleep disorders. His research findings have been published in the Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, Chest, Sleep, and Sleep Medicine.

Training

Dr. Lu received his M.D. from Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois and a sleep medicine clinical/research fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago.
