Research Overview

  • Dr. Elizabeth Min Hui Kim MD, FACS is a board-certified surgical oncologist, specializing in the treatment of high risk breast disease and breast cancer. She provides state of the art surgical care in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • She serves as a Principal Investigator for clinical studies of improving surgical treatment outcomes and leads National Cancer Institute (NCI) clinical trials at Sutter. Dr. Kim leads advances in oncoplastics, nipple and skin-sparing mastectomy, axillary management and surgical management with neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
  • Dr. Kim presents nationally on targeted therapies, the molecular pathways underlying cancer progression, and high-risk breast lesions.
  • As a clinician and surgeon, Dr. Kim collaborates with healthcare experts within the Sutter Network and other NCI designated cancer centers with the goal of advancing treatments for breast cancer. Dr. Kim is dedicated to the design of individualized treatment plans aimed at improving patient care.

Training

Dr. Kim received her M.D. from Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine. She completed residency training in surgery at Saint John Providence Hospital and Medical Center, and a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA.
