Research Overview

  • A member of CPMC’s Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program, Dr. Lu is a leading expert in transplant medicine and the management of kidney disease. He is board certified in nephrology and internal medicine.
  • Dr. Lu and colleagues in the transplant team perform approximately 200 kidney transplants annually and are pioneers in paired kidney donation.
  • Dr. Lu investigates the immune response after kidney transplantation, mechanisms of acute kidney injury after transplantation, and factors promoting renal graft success.

Training


Dr. Lu obtained his M.D. from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed residency training in internal medicine and a fellowship in nephrology at the University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado.
