Research Overview

  • Dr. Weber specializes in neurological surgery and deep brain stimulation for epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor and other brain disorders. One of the most acclaimed neurosurgeons in the San Francisco Bay Area and board-certified in neurosurgery, he also performs surgery on patients with brain tumors and spinal injuries/conditions.
  • Using the latest in brain mapping techniques, Dr. Weber and colleagues at the CPMC/Sutter Pacific Epilepsy Program monitor electrical activity in patients with epilepsy and brain disorders, to further their understanding of brain function and dysfunction.
  • Dr. Weber performs hundreds of surgeries annually including temporal lobe resections, hemispherectomies, brain tumor removal, and highly complex back surgeries.
  • He is CPMC’s lead surgeon for the NeuroPace clinical trial—an FDA approved, multi-center, pivotal clinical trial of a responsive brain neurostimulator for the treatment of uncontrolled seizures.

Training

Dr. Weber received his M.D. from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed a residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch Hospital, and fellowships in neurosurgery at University of Washington Hospital and Nordstat Hospital in Hannover, Germany.
