Research Overview

  • Board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology, Dr. Tyler Kang treats patients with brain tumors, lung cancer, and genitourinary cancers.
  • Dr. Kang studies new approaches to the management of lymphomas, brain cancer and primary nervous system tumors, including clinical trials investigating targeted and immunotherapies.
  • He has lectured nationally on chemotherapeutic and biologic cancer therapies.
  • Dr. Kang’s neuro-oncology expertise and his role in the Sutter Neuroscience Institute in collaboration with Edie Zusman, M.D., contributed to the program’s ranking among  America’s Best Hospitals in neurology and neurosurgery, by U.S. News & World Report.  
  • He is the Neuro-Oncology Lead for the Sutter Neuroscience Research Consortium.

Training

Dr. Kang received his M.D. from the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, followed by residency training in internal medicine at USC-LAC Medical Center. He completed fellowships in hematology and medical oncology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
